Coast Guard Therapy & Other Physical Therapy Services

Physical therapy can be very helpful if an injury or illness prevents you from being able to physically function as you normally would. This type of therapy is designed to help you complete your everyday physical tasks easily and with a minimum of discomfort. For instance, physical therapy might help you re-learn how to walk, go up and down the stairs, or get into and out of bed without experiencing pain and while improving your fitness.

There are many reasons why your doctor might prescribe physical therapy for you. No matter your reason, the team at WellNow Health are standing by to help improve your quality of life. From back and neck to knee and ankle injuries, our physical therapists have the experience and modern equipment to design a program that’s right for you and your body. It can be extremely helpful for people suffering from certain diseases, such as severe arthritis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition to physical therapy, we also provide preventative occupational testing and company physicals to both manage and understand the risks of job-related and lifestyle-related injuries. To best prepare workers for a timely and safe recovery all in the comfort of their own home, we also utilize workers compensation virtual visits.
Sometimes physical therapy is necessary after surgery. In other cases, physical therapy is part of the treatment plan to restore health, range of motion, and physical fitness after an injury.

Here at WellNow Health, we offer a wide array of physical therapy services to our patients, ranging from standard therapy to more specialized forms like Coast Guard therapy.

Regardless of why you came to us, you can expect one-on-one time with a therapist and treatment that’s designed to help you meet your health goals.

What to Expect During Treatment

When you first begin physical therapy here at WellNow Health, you’ll meet with a physical therapist. This therapist will conduct a physical examination and talk to you about your symptoms. You’ll discuss your current condition and your health goals. Then, your therapist will put together a plan to help you improve the motion of your joints and restore or improve your strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and/or flexibility.

Once your treatment starts, your therapist’s first duty will be to reduce the pain and swelling you feel. There are a wide range of techniques your therapist will draw on to do this, including manual therapy, heat therapy, cold therapy, water therapy, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation. Together, you’ll find the therapy that works best for you.

As soon as the pain and swelling are under control, your physical therapy will probably include exercise of some kind. You might be asked to participate in core exercises, weight lifting, stretching, or just walking. Your therapist may also put together a program you can work on at home.

Throughout your treatment, keep in mind that mild soreness and swelling are normal parts of the process. However, if these symptoms bother you, discuss them with your physical therapist.
